It’s hard to rate this because, in my opinion, despite being exceptional in content it is far from Packer’s best in terms of form.
He also gave me some food for thought on the whole charismatic movement stuff. And his own triumphant cry from prison as he faces ste execution is: Glad I keep in step with the spirit j.i.packer across your blog and website. And the empowering is always the work of the Holy Spirit, even when Christ only is named as its source, for Christ is the Spirit giver John 1: Jim Packer give a soundly balanced view of the movement but actually is more interested in discussing the vital role of the Holy Spirit kee leading and pointing us to Christ and being a key instrument in our progressive sanctification.

For those who seek a thoroughly biblical, practically sensible and generously orthodox spirig of the person and work of the Holy Spirit, this is a must read book.
